==============================
Installation for Python2 users
==============================

Fusion requires Python3 to run, but as long as you have Navigator installed
it's easy to work in both Python3 and Python2.

After installing Navigator but before using Fusion, create and activate a new
Python3 environment using Navigator.

In order to use Fusion as a Python2 user:

#. Follow the steps in :ref:`start_navigator`, but stop at step 2--before you click the Try Anaconda Fusion button.

#. Create a Python3 environment.

#. Open Navigator.

#. Click the **Environments** tab.

#. Click the Create button.

#. In the dialog box, type a descriptive name like ``Python3``.

#. Click the Python list and select Python version 3.

#. At the bottom of the dialog box, click the Create button.

#. Go back to the Navigator **Home** tab.

#. Activate the new Python3 environment.

#. At the top of the screen click the Applications on list and select the environment you created in step 8.

#. In the **Anaconda Fusion** pane of the Navigator **Home** tab, click the Try button.
    NOTE: For more help using Navigator, see :doc:`../../navigator/user-guide`.

#. On the Navigator **Home** tab, under Anaconda Fusion, click the Launch button.
